The tantalizing supernatural romance that launched a fictional universe.
"Elemental Mysteries turned into one of the best paranormal series I've read this year. It's sharp, elegant, clever, evenly paced without dragging its feet and at the same time emotionally intense."

This Same Earth Elemental Mysteries Book Two eBook Elizabeth Hunter
As book two in the Elemental Mysteries series, I was not disappointed. Again, Elizabeth Hunter took me on another adventure with Beatrice and Gio. Travelling around the world, or so it seems. It starts with Beatrice, writing in a journal while vacationing in the Cochamo Valley every summer for five years. From there the story starts. It was truly another page turner, which I hated to put down, but had to sleep sometime. I really liked that Beatrice didn't run headlong back into Gio's arms, but made sure of her feelings first. In other words, kind of played hard to get. Thank heavens this is no insta-love romance. There is plenty of tension between Beatrice and Gio, as well as funny sarcasm. I sure did get some laughs in this book, as well as the first. You also get more information on Elizabeth Hunter's vampire world dynamics. How different clans work and how alliances are made. It makes for some very interesting reading.
She does spin a tale worth reading, and reads so well and effortlessly. Again, just the way it was written you could just imagine being part of the story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book. I highly recommend this series.

This Same Earth Elemental Mysteries Book Two eBook Elizabeth Hunter Reviews
I purchased this book on , after reading the first in the series for free. Elizabeth Hunter has taken the vampire story & made it exciting and compelling to read. If you like history, vampires, romance and mystery I believe you will enjoy The Elemental Mysteries. I do recommend that you read the first in the series before reading this 1. Quite a bit happens & you will better understand the second book. Time for me to get the next 1...I do wish they had come in a set.
I had to jump right in! This story following Gio and B offers such an addictive story that I didn't even want a moments breathe between books. Five years have passed! Immediately we learn that five years have passed, and all of it with an absence of Gio. I can't believe that he did this! As I slowly discovered throughout the story his reasoning was understandable, but that doesn't change the deep seeded hurt that I felt at his seemingly act of betrayal. Although, young little B has turned into quite the woman, and it is accompanied by the development of quite the bad ass I had definitely not expected. Rest assured it is welcomed, and amazingly thrilling to say the least adding an extra bit of spice to the stories. It is so sweet to the comrade that has built between all of the characters, and I do mean all of them as they are in some form present in this second book. As their were a few note worthy additions to the story that I can guarantee will continue to the next story as well. I must add that I was beside myself with young Ben, and the humor light and dark that accompany the presence of his character. Everyone in this series fits together so perfectly, and the adventure is just so perfectly crafted that I think it impossible to ever get any better. As I have said before Elizabeth Hunter is a fabulous storyteller, and this adventure is one for the record books. I am just overcome by the desire to continue this series book after book. The story is so strong and independent that each book is a shining star alone, but part of a breath taking and enthralling universe as a whole.

5 years have gone by and B has grown into herself and made a life for herself. She's got a great boyfriend, an awesome job, and a house. Then he comes back. After allowing him to remain friends, and just friends, with her Carwyn has a family crisis that sweeps B up into another world wide adventure, and Gio has no problems explaining his intentions towards her.
Here's what I liked The silent treatment. She did this in the last book too and he deserved it. I liked that he wasn't always so sure of her feelings towards him and that she made him work for it. B doesn't swoon at him, but she also isn't so indifferent that when she feels jealousy she does spite a previous lover of his.
Here's what I didn't like the whole freighter thing. It felt like a repeat of the last book, but not quite as drastic. B is a little too weepy for my tastes. My concerns are that Lorenzo is going to be the villain for all of the books and that's kind of .... boring.
Overall, it was fun to read, I enjoyed it, and I picked up the next book.
I am so in love with this series and this author. I find the fact that this is a PA Romance and every other chapter isn't an explicit scene refreshing. That's not what the book is about and it truly develops the relationship of all the characters. I enjoy a main character who despite being human, is clever and has good instincts and a desire to protect herself when she can. One thing I find *spoilers ahead* is, now that Gio is not really feeding on other humans but on bags and occasionally on Beatrice, what will happen when she changes? I feel like she might have jealousy over him feeding on others as she quickly has become attached to him feeding on her. I wonder how that transition will go! Further, I love her acceptance of who he is completely. I am so happy for a vampire romance where the vampires fed on humans and not animals(for the most part), and the human lovers acceptance of this. When she locked eyes with Gio as he drained the human who had hit her threatened her life, you can truly see her acceptance. In the first book, I liked her take on the feeding, comparing it to the fact that humans kill so many animals to feed yet vampires did not have to kill to feed making them more "civilized" so to say. I look forward to reading more of Gio's and B's story and more from this talented author.
If the pace of the first book in this series was slow, it is glacial here. There is hardly a whisper of a plot until page 109, almost 40 percent through. It is all about Gio coming back into Beatrice's life after five years. The romance is not just slow burn, it's hike miles back to the store to buy matches slow. Do grown people really spend months sleeping in the same bed without having sex? If so, I guess I don't want to read about it.
